Professor’s Choice Film Club
This course aims to introduce students to classic films from a variety of genres. A different Hereford Fellow will conduct each screening session and will provide his or her own approach to the film in conjunction with student interest. Some sessions might consider how elements of film (props, setting, costumes, acting, cinematography, editing, and sound) shape our experience even more than the script. Others might focus more on the story the film tells or (in the case of a documentary) on the information the film provides. The group might choose to discuss certain films as particular reflections or critiques of their social or cultural contexts. Interpretations are open and students will benefit from a diversity of approaches. Contact Margaret Fyfe for more information.
