Introduction to Japanese Animation
This course is designed to explore the artistic medium of Japanese animation or anime. Through lectures, film screenings, and discussions students will: learn the historical development of anime as an art form; explore the technical aspects of anime film genres, tropes, and idioms; and learn to appreciate the uniqueness of anime by understanding its source influences from Japanese culture, history, and values.
