Meet Danielle Crump, Hereford’s Very Own Rocket Scientist!
While in Huntsville, Crump's main project was working with the propulsion systems department in the Ares I crew launch vehicle. She worked specifically with valves and other smaller components for the Upper Stage Reaction Control Systems, which control the roll and attitude of the second stage. Within this group, she had the chance to be a part of a number of tests and projects at the Center - from engine firings, flow testing, designing and analysis, and machining. Also through the Marshall Space Flight Center, she had the opportunity to see the shuttle operations from both the Huntsville Operations Support Center and the Kennedy Space Center for STS-127.

"It was a great experience and opportunity to be a part of the program and become more involved with the real world application to Aerospace Engineering," said Crump. She is definitely looking forward to continuing working in this type of field and being back at the University of Virginia for the upcoming year.
So, what did you do during your summer vacation?
